TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 21 Oklahoma men's tennis team saw a 4-3 victory over Alabama in Saturday's competition in Tuscaloosa.

With the match tied at 3-all, junior Luis Alvarez was once again the source of success for the Sooners (13-6, 6-4 SEC) when he clinched the match in a three-set victory, 6-2, 6-7(5), 6-2, over the Crimson Tide (11-9, 3-8 SEC).

The Sooners fell behind after losing the doubles point with losses at the one and three lines. Freshman Alejandro Melero and sophomore Asahi Harazaki fell,1-6, while freshman Oscar Lacides and Bruno Nhavene came up short, 3-6. When play was stalled, sophomore Kholo Montsi and junior Luis Alvarez trailed 3-5.

Oklahoma tied the match when senior Jordan Hasson took a straight-set win at the five line, 6-2, 6-2. A win at the two line from Montsi gave the Sooners the lead, where he also won 6-2, 6-2.

OU extended the lead to 3-1 when freshman Orel Kimhi picked up a 7-5, 6-4 win at the four spot. Alabama struck back when Lacides came up short at the primary spot, 4-6, 6-3, 3-6.

The Crimson Tide evened the competition with a win at the six line, where Harazaki fell in a 3-6, 6-1, 5-7 battle.

The Sooners return to the Headington Family Tennis Center to take on No. 4 Texas on Thursday, April 3, at 6 p.m. CT and will host LSU on Saturday, April 5, at noon CT.
