NORMAN – Oklahoma volleyball head coach
Aaron Mansfield announced the hiring of Maddie Beal as an assistant coach/technical coordinator Wednesday. Beal will join associate head coach
Brian Thornton and assistant coach
Meredith Teague on Mansfield's staff for the 2025 season.
"I would like to thank
Aaron Mansfield for adding me to his coaching staff and giving me the opportunity to work at a school with such rich athletic history," Beal said. "He and his staff have built something special here at Oklahoma and I am very excited to contribute to it. I am looking forward to continuing my coaching career in one of the premier volleyball conferences in the country and continuing to push Oklahoma to the top of the SEC."
Beal arrives in Norman after spending two seasons at Michigan State where she was an assistant coach for the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Prior to her stint at Michigan State, she was an assistant coach at DePaul in 2022 and served as a two-year graduate manager at Ole Miss, where the Rebels made their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2010.
Beal was recognized in April 2023 as a recipient of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Thirty Under 30 award, which honors up-and-coming coaches at all levels of volleyball. In May 2023, Beal was a participant at the 52nd NCAA Women Coaches Academy, a program designed for women coaches to elevate their holistic coaching effectiveness by learning advanced leadership skills and strategies that directly affect their personal and team success. Participants focus on non-sport-specific concepts in an environment that fosters inclusion across the sports community.
"We are very excited to add Maddie Beal to our coaching staff," head coach
Aaron Mansfield said. "Maddie brings a high level of playing experience at the University of Minnesota, where she helped lead her team to a final four appearance as a co-captain. Maddie has also gained valuable experiences in her stops along the way as a college coach in the operations, player development, recruiting and analytics space, that will undoubtedly have an immediate impact on our program. Maddie has a really good ability to impart her knowledge and experience to her players and will serve as a tremendous role model for our players. We are fired up to have Maddie with us!"
Beal was a four-year letterwinner at Minnesota where she earned Academic All-B1G honors in 2015, 2016 and 2017. Beal served as a co-captain for the Golden Gophers in 2017 and helped Minnesota to a Final Four run during her sophomore season in 2015. After the conclusion of her career in the Twin Cities, Beal joined the beach volleyball program at TCU for one season. Beal's father, Doug, coached the U.S. Men's National Team to a gold medal at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
