OPENING TIP

• In his fifth season at Oklahoma, head coach Porter Moser is 51-9 (.850) in regular season non-conference play.

• OU has won 21 of its last 23 regular season non-conference games (it went 13-0 last season) and 34 of its last 37.

• The Sooners are in the third of a four-game stretch against power conference teams, all away from home (vs. Marquette in Chicago, at Wake Forest, vs. Arizona State in Phoenix and vs. Oklahoma State in Oklahoma City).

• Arizona State has been off since Nov. 26 when it lost to USC in the Maui Invitational championship game, 88-75. The Sun Devils won first-and second-round matchups against Texas (87-86) and Washington State (100-94), respectively.

• ASU senior Moe Odum was named Dick Vitale's national player of the week and Big 12 Player of the Week after his performance in Maui. The guard, who played two years at Pacific and last season at Pepperdine before joining the Sun Devils, averaged 26.3 points per game in Maui. Included was a 36-point effort against Texas.

• Under former head coach Billy Tubbs, Oklahoma faced current ASU head coach Bobby Hurley twice when Hurley played for Duke, and both were tight games. The Blue Devils beat OU 90-85 in Norman in the 1990-91 season (ended the Sooners' school-record 51-game home court winning streak; Duke went on to win the national title) and 88-84 in overtime in Durham in 1992-93 during his senior season when the Blue Devils were ranked No. 1.

• Saturday's game will mark the third between OU and ASU, and the first neutral-site meeting. The Sun Devils posted a 127-95 win in the Sun Devil Classic in Tempe during the 1963-64 season before the Sooners evened the series with an 89-76 triumph in the 1983-84 campaign in Norman behind a career-high 37 points from guard Shawn Clark. Clark, who was 16 for 26 from the field that night, averaged 8.5 points per game on the season.

• OU's four-game winning streak is its longest since starting last season 13-0.

OU NOTES & NUGGETS

• Oklahoma has scored at least 95 points in four of its eight games this year. Last season, OU reached the 95-point mark twice in 34 contests.

• Over the last four games, the Sooners have outscored their opponents off turnovers by a resounding 62-18 margin. Oklahoma has committed only 30 turnovers over the last four games (7.5 average). Since at least the 1995-96 season, no OU team has committed fewer than 30 turnovers over a four-game stretch. The 2001-02 Final Four squad also had a four-game span of just 30 turnovers (its first four NCAA Tournament contests).

• Six Sooners have scored in double figures in at least one game this season, and Nijel Pack has scored at least 13 in all eight of them. Pack leads the team with his 18.5 points per game while backcourt mate Xzayvier Brown ranks second with his 13.4 average. Forwards Tae Davis (13.6) and Derrion Reid (12.1) also average double figures, while forward/center Mohamed Wague rounds out the starting five with 8.1 per game.

• OU and LSU are the only SEC teams with four players who each average 12.0-plus points a game.

• Davis has been a terror the last two games, especially after halftime. In wins over Marquette and Wake Forest, he averaged 18.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists and went 14 for 18 from the field. In the second half of those contests, he made 11 of 12 shots and averaged 14.0 points.

• Davis ranks first in the SEC with his 3.8 offensive rebounds per contest and ranks 13th in total rebounds at 7.3 per outing.  He had 11 offensive boards against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Oklahoma's most in a contest since at least the 1995-96 season. Against Marquette two games ago, he reeled in 11 boards, including six of OU's 10 on offense.

• Wague's two highest career point totals have come this season (16 in the opener vs. Saint Francis and 20 vs. Oral Roberts). He combined for 16 field goals in those two games. Tuesday at Wake Forest he logged career highs in minutes (32) and rebounds (14), and tied a season high with three assists. He is shooting a team-high .649 from the field (.750 over the last five games [15 for 20]).

• Davis (3.9) and Wague (3.3) rank first and fifth in the SEC in offensive rebounds per game.

• The Sooners ranked 321st in 2024-25 with their 2.3 blocked shots per game, but through eight outings this year are averaging 4.0.

LEADER OF THE PACK

• Oklahoma sixth-year guard Nijel Pack is second in the nation with his 4.3 3-point field goals per game. He also paces the SEC and ranks 11th in the country with his .507 3-point field goal percentage. For perspective, the OU single-season record for 3-pointers per game is 4.0 by Buddy Hield during OU's 2015-16 Final Four campaign (next most is 3.7 by Trae Young in 2017-18), and the school-single-season standard for 3-point FG percentage is .473 by Tim Heskett in 1998-99.

• Over the last six contests, Pack is 28 for 49 (.571) from long distance and has made at least three treys in each of those contests. The last Sooner to make at least three triples in six straight outings was consensus national player of the year Hield in 2015-16.

• Pack is one of six active NCAA Division I players to record over 1,500 career points and 350 assists. He leads that group with 1,893 points and has registered 389 assists.

• Pack ranks among the nation's active career leaders in several categories. Through Thursday, he is second in 3-pointers (347), third in points (1,893), 27th in assists (389) and 45th in steals (135).

• A sixth-year collegian, Pack spent his first two seasons at Kansas State (he was a first-team All-Big 12 pick as a sophomore when he averaged 17.4 points and made 95 3-pointers and shot a league-high .436 from behind the arc) and the last three at Miami, Fla. (he helped the Hurricanes to their first Final Four his junior season and was named the Midwest Region Most Outstanding Player). He has started 129 of his 130 career games.

REID HEATING UP

• Sophomore forward Derrion Reid's three highest-scoring career games have come in the last three outings, as he tallied 16 points against Alcorn State (to go along with a career-high eight rebounds), 15 vs. Marquette in Chicago and a career-high 18 at Wake Forest, all OU wins.

• Over the three-game stretch, the 2024 McDonald's All-American is shooting .531 (17 for 32) from the field and .545 (6 for 11) from behind the 3-point arc.

• Reid is tied with fellow forward Tae Davis for the team lead in free throw attempts (30) but is the outright leader with 25 makes (shooting .833).

• As a freshman on Alabama's NCAA Elite Eight team last season, Reid played in 24 games and averaged 6.0 points and 2.8 rebounds in 14.0 minutes per outing.

LOADED HOME SEC SLATE

• All nine SEC teams that play in Norman this season made last year's NCAA Tournament, including national champion Florida, Final Four participant Auburn, Elite Eight participant Alabama and Sweet 16 teams Arkansas and Ole Miss.

• OU's other league foes that will visit Lloyd Noble Center are Georgia, Missouri, Texas and Texas A&M.

UP NEXT

• OU takes on Oklahoma State on Saturday, Dec. 13, at noon CT at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City. The game will be televised nationally by FOX Sports. The Sooners, who won last year's December matchup in OKC, 80-65, hold a 144-106 all-time series record (250 games played).
