Record-Setting Shooting Performance Leads to 53-Point Men's Basketball Win

December 22, 2025 | Men's Basketball

NORMAN — Oklahoma shot a school-record 67.8% from the field and got double-digit scoring from six players, including all five starters, in a 107-54 win over Stetson on Monday night at Lloyd Noble Center. The Sooners' 107 points were a season high and tied for their most since the 2017-18 campaign.

OU, which went 12 for 24 from 3-point range, scored 51 points in the first half and 56 in the second, and posted a 54-18 advantage in paint points to improve to 9-3. Stetson, which fell to 4-9, shot 34.5% for the game and 17.9% (5 for 28) from behind the arc.

All nine Sooners who scored made at least half of their field-goal attempts.

Sophomore forward Derrion Reid went 9 for 12 from the field and finished with a career-high 22 points to go along with six rebounds and two assists. The five highest-scoring games of his career have come over the last seven outings.

Junior guard Xzayvier Brown provided scoring punch for the third straight contest, netting 18 points on 7-for-9 shooting. He had three assists and just one turnover in 35 minutes, and over the last three games has registered 60 points and only three turnovers.

Fifth-year center Mohamed Wague recorded 15 points, his most in a month, a game-high nine boards and two assists. He was 6 of 7 from the field.

Forwards Tae Davis (12 points) and Kuol Atak (11) and guard Nijel Pack (11) also scored in double-digits. Atak played a career-high 24 minutes and Pack went 3 for 5 from behind the arc. It was his ninth outing of at least three treys in the last 10 games.

The Sooners, whose only deficit of the night was 2-1, made nine of their first 12 shots in taking a 26-11 lead, pushed their advantage to 19 points at 41-22 and led 51-30 at half. Behind Reid, who netted 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting, they finished the opening 20 minutes 20 of 26 from the field (76.9%) and 6 of 9 from 3-point distance (66.7%). It was just the second time since the 2013-14 season OU shot at least 75% from the field in a half.

OU picked up where it left off to start the second half, making its first five shots and scoring 13 points on its initial five possessions to go up 64-35. Pack keyed the spurt with a pair of 3-pointers.

Porter Moser's squad committed seven turnovers in the first half but just one in the second, registering its seventh effort of single-digit turnovers in the last 10 games. It's the only time within a season the Sooners have accomplished the feat in the last 30 years.

OU's 15-rebound advantage (39-24) marked its second largest of the season.

The previous program record for field-goal percentage in a game was 66.1 in a 103-60 home win over Baylor on Feb. 26, 2005.

The Sooners are off until Dec. 29 when they close non-conference play by hosting Mississippi Valley State at 7 p.m. CT at Lloyd Noble Center.
