September 29, 2026 | Men's Basketball

NORMAN — The McCasland Game, presented by Oklahoma Air National Guard, returns as Oklahoma Men's Basketball will host Mississippi Valley State at historic McCasland Field House in a 7 p.m. tip-off on Friday, Nov. 6. This will mark the fourth consecutive season for the Sooners to play a game at the venue, which served as their primary home from 1928-75.

Formerly billed a "student-only" event, this year's McCasland Game is open to students and season ticket holders, alike. Seating for OU students will be behind the team benches in sections 9-13 (lower west), as well as in sections G-K (upper level). Season ticket holders will have the opportunity to sit in sections 1-5 (lower east) and sections A-E (upper level). ADA seating will be available near the south baseline, while OU band and spirit will utilize the north baseline sections. The upper sections in the south end of the Field House will serve as overflow seating for students and season ticket holders.

Student tickets for the McCasland Game will be general admission, with the student-ticket-claim process for the game announced at a later date.

Season ticket holders can claim a reserved seat for $5 with the claim process expected to begin the second week of October. A limited number of seats are available for season ticket holders and will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis.

2026-27 OKLAHOMA SOONERS
Oklahoma returns a veteran core led by senior guard Xzayvier Brown, a preseason All-SEC candidate and one of the nation's top point guards. Brown enters his second season with the Sooners after averaging 15.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game in 2025-26, while Derrion Reid returns after starting all 37 games as a sophomore and averaging 11.7 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. Junior Dayton Forsythe provides sixth-year head coach Porter Moser with another veteran guard option, while sophomore Kai Rogers returns to add frontcourt depth and physicality. Reid and Brown give Oklahoma two returning starters who are poised to take on expanded leadership roles.

The Sooners added significant experience and versatility through the transfer portal, led by fifth-year forwards Duke Brennan and Yaak Yaak, fifth-year guards B.J. Edwards, Tyler Hendricks and Pop Isaacs, and junior Khani Rooths. Brennan brings 133 games of experience and a 2025-26 season at Villanova in which he averaged 12.4 points and 10.3 rebounds, while Edwards arrives after earning ACC All-Defensive Team honors and averaging 12.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 2.3 steals at SMU. Isaacs is a proven shot maker with 1,277 points and 219 3-point field goals in his career, while Hendricks and Rooths are floor-spacing wings with the size and athleticism to make an impact on both ends of the court.

Oklahoma also welcomes freshmen Gage Mayfield and Quincy Wadley, giving the Sooners a roster that combines returning production, extensive collegiate experience and highly regarded young talent.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF McCASLAND
Opened in 1928 in the middle of the University of Oklahoma campus, McCasland Field House served as home to the OU men's basketball program for 48 seasons. As building occupants, the Sooners won seven conference titles, participated in two NCAA Tournament Final Fours and saw 11 different players combine for 16 All-America honors.

More than 5,000 fans attended the facility's first game on January 13, 1928, as the Sooners beat the legendary coach Phog Allen's Kansas Jayhawks, 45-19. Oklahoma boasts a 323-155 record at the venue named in honor of Howard McCasland, OU men's basketball captain and center from 1914-16. Sooner fans flocked to the gym to watch McCasland as he totaled 407 points, accounting for half of the entire team's total, during his senior season in 1916. He was also a member of the 10-0 1915 Oklahoma football team and was awarded the Letzeiser Medal for outstanding achievement as a scholar.

In addition to sporting events, McCasland Field House has hosted several notable musicians and entertainers. Performers have included including Jimi Hendrix (1970), Henry Mancini (1963), Sonny and Cher (1969), Nat King Cole (1956) and Duke Ellington (1956), while former President Bill Clinton spoke at the Field House during the 2008 Presidential campaign.
