December 12, 2025 | Men's Basketball

NORMAN — The Oklahoma (6-3) and Oklahoma State (9-0) men's basketball programs will meet for the 251st time on Saturday at noon CT at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City. The game is part of a Bedlam doubleheader, as the No. 9 OU women's team will square off against No. 23 OSU at 3 p.m.

Saturday's men's game will be televised by FOX with Aaron Goldsmith (play-by-play) and Casey Jacobsen (analyst) announcing. It will air on the Sooner Sports Radio Network (KRXO 107.7 FM in Oklahoma City; KTBZ 1430 AM in Tulsa; Varsity Radio App) with Toby Rowland (play-by-play) and Kevin Henry (analyst) on the call.

Oklahoma, which is 144-106 all-time against Oklahoma State, has won the last three Bedlam matchups and is 26-18 in the last 44 meetings going back to the 2005-06 season. The Sooners posted a 33-29 record against the Cowboys when they were Big 12 Conference co-members from 1996-97 through 2023-24.

OU owns a 15-6 record at Paycom Center (previously named Ford Center and Chesapeake Energy Arena), which opened in the 2002-03 basketball season. The Sooners, who are 4-0 in NCAA Tournament games in the building (2-0 each in 2003 and 2016), have won six of their last seven there. They are 1-1 against Oklahoma State, losing 71-70 in the 2009 Big 12 Tournament quarterfinals and winning 80-55 on Dec. 14, 2024.

OPENING TIP

• OU and OSU are meeting in Oklahoma City for the fifth time (both programs have won twice), but for the first time in consecutive seasons. The Sooners are 8-9 all-time in neutral-site games against the Cowboys, with all 17 contests being played in OKC or Kansas City, Mo.

• Saturday's contest will be OU's fourth straight against a power conference opponent away from Norman. It will also be the Sooners' second consecutive game in an NBA arena after playing against Arizona State on Saturday at Matchup Mortgage Arena, home of the Phoenix Suns.

• In his fifth season at Oklahoma, head coach Porter Moser is 51-10 (.836) in regular season non-conference play.

• OU has won 21 of its last 24 regular season non-conference games (it went 13-0 last season) and 34 of its last 38.

• At 9-0, OSU, which has played seven home games and two neutral-site contests, is one of eight undefeated teams in the country as of Thursday.

• The Cowboys are under the direction of head coach Steve Lutz, who is in his second season in Stillwater. OSU was an NIT quarterfinalist year. Lutz spent two seasons as the head coach at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and one at Western Kentucky, advancing to the NCAA Tournament all three years.

OU VS. OSU LAST YEAR

• Oklahoma dominated Oklahoma State in last year's Bedlam matchup, which was also played at Paycom Center. The Sooners built a 43-26 halftime lead and extended it to as many as 27 in the second half in an 80-65 victory.

• Senior center Sam Godwin, who was 10 of 14 from the field and registered a career-high 20 points and added 14 rebounds and three steals, led five Sooners in double figures in scoring. Freshman guard Jeremiah Fears contributed 17 points and five assists, while senior guard Kobe Elvis was 5 for 7 from 3-point range en route to 15 points.

• OU outscored OSU 21-9 off turnovers and 42-26 in the paint. The Sooners' starters outscored OSU's starting five 73-23.

Dayton Forsythe (one point and two assists in 10 minutes) and Mohamed Wague (no points in one minute) are the only current Sooners who played in the contest.

OU NOTES & NUGGETS

• Oklahoma has scored at least 95 points in four of its nine games. Last season, OU reached the 95-point mark twice in 34 contests.

• The Sooners have outscored eight of their nine opponents after halftime and own a +9.8 average margin in the second half. Nebraska (61-48) is the only team to outscore OU in the second 20 minutes.

• Over Oklahoma's recent four-game winning streak, the Sooners outscored their opponents off turnovers by a resounding 62-18 margin. The Sooners committed only 30 turnovers during that stretch (7.5 average). Since at least the 1995-96 season, no OU team has committed fewer than 30 turnovers over a four-game stretch.

• Seven Sooners have scored in double figures in at least one game this season, and Nijel Pack has scored at least 13 in eight of nine. Pack leads the team with his 17.2 points per game while forward Tae Davis (13.3), guard Xzayvier Brown (13.1) and forward Derrion Reid (11.1) also average double figures. Center Mohamed Wague rounds out the starting five with his 7.4 points per game.

• Davis was a terror in OU's wins against Marquette and Wake Forest, particularly in the second half. In those games he averaged 18.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists and went 14 for 18 from the field. In the second half of those contests, he made 11 of 12 shots and averaged 14.0 points.

• Davis ranks second in the SEC with his 3.6 offensive rebounds per contest and ranks 15th in total rebounds at 7.4 per outing.  He had 11 offensive boards against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Oklahoma's most in a contest since at least the 1995-96 season. Against Marquette three games ago, he reeled in 11 boards, including six of OU's 10 on offense. He surpassed 1,000 career points against Arizona State and sits at 489 rebounds.

• Reid's three highest-scoring games of his career have come in his last four outings, as he tallied 16 points against Alcorn State (to go along with a career-high eight rebounds), 15 vs. Marquette and a career-high 18 at Wake Forest, all OU wins.

• Wague's two highest career point totals have come this season (16 in the opener vs. Saint Francis and 20 vs. Oral Roberts). Two games ago at Wake Forest, he logged career highs in minutes (32) and rebounds (14), and tied a season high with three assists. He is shooting a team-high .641.

• Davis (3.6) and Wague (3.1) rank second and fifth in the SEC in offensive rebounds per game.

• The Sooners ranked 321st in 2024-25 with their 2.3 blocked shots per game, but through nine outings this year are averaging 3.8.

LEADER OF THE PACK

• Oklahoma sixth-year guard Nijel Pack is fourth in the nation with his 3.9 3-point field goals per game. He also ranks second in the SEC and 19th in the country with his .486 3-point field goal percentage.

• Over the last six contests, Pack is 35-for-72 (.486) from long distance and has made at least one 3-pointer in every game including at least three in six consecutive games between Nov. 11 and Dec. 2. The last Sooner to make at least three triples in six straight outings was consensus national player of the year Buddy Hield during OU's 2015-16 Final Four campaign.

• Through Thursday, Pack ranked second nationally in 3-pointers (348) among active career players, third in points (1,900), 28th in assists (392) and 48th in steals (135).

• A sixth-year collegian, Pack spent his first two seasons at Kansas State (he was a first-team All-Big 12 pick as a sophomore when he averaged 17.4 points and made 95 3-pointers and shot a league-high .436 from behind the arc) and the last three at Miami, Fla. (he helped the Hurricanes to their first Final Four his junior season and was named the Midwest Region Most Outstanding Player). He has started 130 of his 131 career games.

JONES PROVIDES SPARK

• Another sixth-year guard who is in his first year playing for OU, Long Beach State transfer Jadon Jones ranks fifth on the team with his 7.6 points per game off the bench in an average of 17.3 minutes over his five outings. Jones missed all of last season with the Sooners due to injury, as well as the first four games this year.

• Jones, who is 18 for 22 (.818) from the free throw line, has drawn five fouls in his five games while attempting a 3-pointer. He has also made six treys.

• Jones was the 2021-22 Big West Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

LOADED HOME SEC SLATE

• All nine SEC teams that play in Norman this season made last year's NCAA Tournament, including national champion Florida, Final Four participant Auburn, Elite Eight participant Alabama and Sweet 16 teams Arkansas and Ole Miss.

• OU's other league foes that will visit Lloyd Noble Center are Georgia, Missouri, Texas and Texas A&M.

UP NEXT

• OU hosts Kansas City on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at 6 p.m. CT to start a stretch of three consecutive home games to finish non-conference play. The game will be televised by SEC Network.
