First Honor in Program History

NORMAN — Oklahoma Soccer's senior goalkeeper Caroline Duffy was named Southeastern Conference (SEC) Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office Monday, Oct. 6.

Duffy is the first Sooner in program history to earn SEC Defensive Player of the Week laurels after OU joined the conference ahead of the 2024 season. She is the second Sooner to earn SEC weekly honors this year after Ally Laccinole was named SEC Freshman of the Week in August.

The Clarksville, Md., native made eight saves this past week, allowing only 0.50 goals per game. The lone goal permitted came on an Alabama penalty kick in OU's 3-1 win in Tuscaloosa Thursday. The keeper made five saves in that win, bringing her to 100 for her career. Duffy followed that up with three saves in a clean sheet against Texas A&M, her third shutout of the season.

Duffy has helped OU to a 9-3-2 record, tallying 36 saves, two assists and over 1,200 minutes played in 14 starts this season.

The Sooners stay at home to host No. 5 Tennessee Thursday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. The match will be broadcast on SEC Network.
