No. 10 Sooners to Host Three Matches in Opening Weekend

NORMAN – The Oklahoma men's tennis team is set to begin their 2025 campaign with three matches on their home courts.
The Sooners open the season against Omaha on Thursday at 5 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Sunday against Cornell at 12 p.m. and UT Arlington at 5 p.m.
Oklahoma is 2-0 against Omaha and last faced the Mavericks in 2019. Last season, the Sooners topped both Cornell and UTA in the regular season. OU faced UTA again in the postseason, defeating the Mavericks to advance to the second round of the NCAA tournament.
The Sooners start the season as the No. 10 ranked team in the nation and the No. 2 team in the SEC.
In the fall season, OU won 105 matches and qualified three athletes for the NCAA Individual Championships and earned three regional champion awards.
In the 2023-24 season, Oklahoma went 21-5 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament. The team notched three wins over top-15 teams and finished second in conference play.
The Sooners return five athletes from the 2024 season in Jordan Hasson, Luis Alvarez, Kholo Montsi, Hank Trondson and Asahi Harazaki. Newcomers Bruno Nhavene, Oscar Lacides, Vojtech Petr, Orel Kimhi and Alejandro Melero are heading into their first season with the team.
