Ninety-Eight Sooners Named to Spring Academic All-Big 12 Teams

NORMAN – Ninety-eight University of Oklahoma student-athletes have been named to the 2024 Spring Academic All-Big 12 Teams, the conference office announced Tuesday.

The teams recognize the academic accomplishments of student-athletes who participate in spring sports. OU's 98 honorees are comprised of student-athletes across eight spring sports: baseball (9), men's golf (5), women's golf (4), rowing (25), softball (10), men's tennis (6), women's tennis (2) and track and field (37).

Eighty-five OU student-athletes were named to the first team, and 13 were named to the second team.

Eleven of the 130 Big 12 student-athletes nominated with a 4.00 grade point average are from OU. The Sooners with perfect GPAs are Katelyn Brown (rowing), Collin Caso (men's track and field), Nathan Han (men's tennis), Kailynn Jackson (women's track and field), Nina Lang (women's golf), Tyler Leatherman (rowing), Paige Low (women's track and field), Riley O'Neill (rowing), Saide Pilz (rowing), Carlos Tello (men's track and field) and Alexis Wilson (rowing).
First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second-team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher, either cumulatively or the two previous semesters, and must have participated in 20% of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
