Rowing Set for Big 12 Championship

NORMAN - Oklahoma rowing starts postseason competition with the Big 12 Championship in Sarasota, Fla., on Sunday, May 19.Ā
The championship regatta will be at Nathan Benderson Park, starting at 8 a.m. CT. Five races determine the conference champion, and the festivities open with a third varsity four exhibition race.Ā
No. 1 Texas, No. 5 Tennessee, No. 18 Alabama, UCF, Kansas, Kansas State and West Virginia join Oklahoma in Florida.Ā
The entire slate of events will be streamed on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.Ā
The Big 12 champion will automatically qualify for the 2024 NCAA Rowing Championships held May 30 through June 2 in Bethel, Ohio.
BIG 12 CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORYĀ
Oklahoma finished fourth at the 2023 Big 12 Championship, and the duo of Andjela Nisevic and Lale Edil earned All-Big 12 honors. The Sooners won the conference title in 2014, earning their second consecutive championship and qualifying for the NCAA Championship.
LAST TIME OUTĀ
- Oklahoma secured threeĀ first-placeĀ finishes against UCO in Oklahoma City on May 4.Ā
- The 1V8+ squad breezed past Central Oklahoma, notching a time of 7:10.27 to secure OU's first win.
- The 3V8+ topped Tulsa's 3V8+ and UCO's 2V8+. OU's 1V4+ crossedĀ the line 17 seconds ahead of the Bronchos, earning a dominant victoryĀ and securingĀ the sweep.Ā
