Volleyball Chosen for 2024 NCAA Tournament

NORMAN – For the first time since 2019, the Oklahoma volleyball team is heading to the NCAA Tournament. The Sooners, who finished the regular season 14-10 overall and sixth in the SEC at 8-8, face the University of Texas at El Paso in the Pittsburgh Regional on Friday, Dec. 6 at 3 p.m. CT.

Pittsburgh, seeded No. 1 overall in the tournament field, hosts Morehead State in the other first round matchup. The winners of the two first round matches will face off in the second round on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. CT.

"I'm super proud of this team," head coach Aaron Mansfield said. "This was a very clear goal of ours that was very player led. The cool part is I think we're playing our best volleyball right now. I'm really proud of how much the program has grown in the last year and a half and we're really excited for the players to get to experience the tournament."

For Oklahoma, it's the 13^th overall appearance in program history. The Sooners, who will be making their first appearance under Mansfield, are 10-12 all-time in the NCAA Tournament.

"There's going to be no easy matches in the tournament," Mansfield said. "All the teams are extremely competitive. We've believed from the very beginning of the season that if we play our brand of volleyball we can compete with anyone and this is going to be a good test for us."

The Sooners are Miners have faced off just one time in program history with the Sooners winning 3-0 in El Paso, Texas, in 2015. OU has faced Morehead State twice, in 1993 and 2003, and have split the series and has faced host Pittsburgh just once, falling 3-1 in 2018.

The Final Four and National Championship will be held at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Ky., on December 19 and 22

The Sooners last advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2019, falling to Rice in the first round.
