FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Oklahoma volleyball team closed out the regular season with a four-set (22-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-23) victory over Arkansas Wednesday night inside Barnhill Arena. The Sooners finished the regular season play with a 14-10 overall record and 8-8 record in SEC play.

Lydia Martyn reached a special milestone, hitting the 1,000-kill mark in the third set. This is the second major milestone of the year for Martyn as she reached 500 blocks earlier this season. She finished the match with 10 kills on a .450 clip to go with seven digs and two blocks.
Alexis Shelton extended her double-digit kill streak to 29 matches with 19 kills on the night.
Hannah Pfiffner led the team with a .476 hitting percentage and 10 kills with zero errors.
Kari Geissberger added nine kills on the night to go with two aces, two digs and a block.
Payton Chamberlain notched her second-straight double-double with 48 assists and 11 digs. The senior also led the squad with five blocks on the night.
Callie Kemohah recorded a team-best 21 digs alongside six assists.
Arkansas led 15-9 at the media timeout and the Sooners responded with three quick points to make it a 15-12 game. Using an 8-3 run, OU made it a one-point match at 18-17 as Gibson led the way with three kills during the run. Arkansas took a 23-18 lead late and the Sooners ultimately dropped the set, 25-22.
The Sooners tied things up in the second with a 25-19 win. An early 5-0 run gave them a 9-6 advantage before Arkansas tied the match at 13-13. A 3-0 run and ace from Geissberger gave OU a three-point lead before the Razorbacks forced a timeout with OU up 19-18. With
Sydney Thompson behind the service line, the Sooners used a 6-0 scoring run to close out the match, thanks in large part to three-straight kills from Pfiffner.
After falling behind 6-3, OU used a 7-1 run to take a 10-7 lead. Arkansas tied things up at 15-all before a 5-1 run by Oklahoma made it a 20-16 game. The Razorbacks would tie the set up once again at 22-22 and
Daleigh Ellison came up with two clutch kills to give OU set point. A bad set by the Razorback setter gave OU the 25-22 victory and a 2-1 lead in the match.
Oklahoma opened the fourth set with a 5-0 run and pushed its lead to seven at 12-5. A 6-2 run from Arkansas made it 14-11 Oklahoma, forcing a Sooner timeout. Late in the set, OU took a 20-17 lead but the Razorbacks came back to tie the match at 22-22. OU won two quick points for match point at 24-22. Arkansas fought off the firs match point, but a big swing from Shelton closed out the set and match, 25-23.
The Sooners will find out their NCAA Tournament fate on Sunday, Dec. 1. The NCAA Volleyball Selection Show will air on ESPN at 5 p.m. CT.
