NORMAN – Oklahoma freshman
Leah Jeruto was named the USTFCCCA Midwest Region Women's Athlete of the Year, the coaches association announced Tuesday evening.
Jeruto earned the award after winning the NCAA Midwest Region Championships on Nov. 15, eight days before she would finish 40th at the 2024 NCAA DI Cross Country Championships in Madison, Wis., for All-America honors.
During the regular season, Jeruto was second at the Arturo Barrios Invitational, third at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational and ninth at the SEC Championships.
Jeruto claimed several conference awards this season, including Second Team All-SEC and All-SEC Freshman Team honors. Jeruto also secured the SEC Women's Runner of the Week honor on Oct. 22.
