Jacob Potter joined Oklahoma Athletics in 2009 and serves as the Associate Athletic Director for Video Services.
In this role, he leads all SoonerVision productions. Created in 1997, SoonerVision is the in-house video production arm for Oklahoma Athletics, and was established as one of the first video board departments in college athletics. Today, SoonerVision also produces daily digital content and over 100 live game and studio shows annually on ESPN+.Â
During the 2009-2010 season, Potter pioneered the in-house broadcast productions of Oklahoma baseball and softball that would eventually become Sooner Sports TV in August of 2012.Â
Prior to SoonerVision, Potter served in internship programs at Teton Gravity Research (Jackson Hole, WY) and Viacom (New York, NY). While working with Teton Gravity Research, Potter assisted with pre-production elements for the ski & snowboard film ‘Under the Influence’. Following that stint, he was selected as part of the MTV Networks internship program at Viacom in New York City with a focus on projects for Spike TV.Â
He earned a BFA in Film, Video & Photography and a minor in Art History from OU. While attending the University, Potter began work on the History of Oklahoma Football documentary series, cataloguing hundreds of hours of vintage film and recording interviews with Sooner greats that spans generations. Since that time, Potter has completed four documentaries on Oklahoma Football including Part I - Birth of a Champion, Part II - Legacy of Winning, Part III - Dynasty of Championships and Sooner Sports TV Featured: Jim Mackenzie.Â
Born in Oklahoma City, Potter was raised a Sooner fan near the Four Corners in Farmington, New Mexico. His professional career began as a camp videographer at LifeWay in Nashville, TN where he met his wife Joy. Together they have two daughters, Jocelyn & Jenna, living in Norman and serving in their spare time with the March of Dimes.
