Student Organizations

All recognized student organizations wishing to order products bearing any OU trademark must first obtain permission from the Student Government and Organization Services office (SGOS)Ā within the Division of Student Affairs and the Office of Trademark Licensing. Please allow up to one week for us to respond to your request. To obtain licensing approval, please follow these steps:
1. Choose a current OU licensee to Produce Your Product:

2.Ā Design your product. Please refer to the below guidelines when designing your product. Your organizations classification will determine which OU trademarks you are able to use.
The Office of Trademark Licensing, in conjunction withĀ the Student Government and Organization Services office (SGOS)Ā within the Division of Student Affairs, supports students wishing to gather and form a community through recognized student organizations. At the University of Oklahoma, all recognized student organizations are responsible for understanding and hearing to applicable governing policies and principles.

University-Sponsored Programs & Activities
- Student organizations that are classified as either Presidential or Government will have access to all OU trademarks.
- Designs must be approved by the full-time staff member who oversees the Presidential or Government organization and by Trademark Licensing.
- Groups may not apply to be Presidential or Government organizations.
- Current Presidential groups include: Crimson Club, OU Cousins, President's Community Scholars (PCS), President's Leadership Class (PLC), Henderson Scholars Program (HSP)
- Current Government groups include: SGA Executive Branch, Campus Activities Council, Undergraduate Student Congress and all committees, Graduate Student Senate and all committees, and Crimson Leadership Association
Registered Student Organizations
- All student organizations recognized through the annual registration process will be Registered Student Organizations at The University of Oklahoma. A Registered Student Organization is a student-created organization based on interest and/or advocacy.
- Based on criteria outlined in theĀ RSO Policy, all Registered Student Organizations are classified as one of the following:
- Interest ā Registered Student Organization (ISO)
- Prohibited from using OU trademarks within ISO name
- Can use the following trademark on products:
- āat the University of Oklahomaā following or below the ISO name
- Greek Life Student Organization ā Registered Student Organization (ISO)
- Prohibited from using OU trademarks within ISO name
- Can use the following trademark on products:
- āat the University of Oklahomaā following or below the ISO name
- Departmental ā Registered Student Organization (DSO)
- May apply to use trademarks within its organization name upon approval by the Student Government and Organization Services (SGOS)Ā within the Division of Student Affairs and Trademark Licensing
- Can use the following trademarks on product:
- (Interlocking) OU
- Boomer Sooner
- Oklahoma, Sooner(s)
- (The) University of Oklahoma
- Campus imagery specific to the relevant department or academic unit
- Sport Club ā Registered Student Organization (SCSO)
- Name of organization will be āOU [Enter sport name] Clubā (no other name variations will be accepted)
- Can use the following trademarks on product:
- (Interlocking) OU
- Boomer Sooner
- Oklahoma, Sooner(s)
- (The) University of Oklahoma
- Competitive Club ā Registered Student Organization (CCSO)
- Upon approval through OU Engage and the OU Office of Trademark Licensing Office, the CCSO may use the following trademarks within its name and on products:
- (Interlocking) OU
- Boomer Sooner
- Sooner(s)
- Oklahoma
- (The) University of Oklahoma
- Campus imagery specific to the relevant department or academic unit
- The use of accessible trademarks does not suggest the University endorses any particular point of view, action, or speaker

3. Complete the appropriate Student Organization Licensing Form:

4. Please allow up to one week for the Office of Trademark Licensing to respond to your request.
