One of 30 Players Nationwide Named to List

NORMAN — Oklahoma Soccer forward Kayla Keefer was named to the Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) Hermann Trophy Midseason Watch List as announced Wednesday, Sept. 30.

Keefer is one of 30 players nationwide to make the exclusive list, which was narrowed down from the initial list of 62 players announced in July. Additionally, Keefer is one of four players who are on the midseason list that were not named to the preseason list from prior to the start of the season. Keefer is one of four SEC players and 13 forwards on the list.

The junior forward leads the nation in goals (15), points (32) and goals per game (1.25), while sitting second in the country and first in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) in game-winning goals (five). She has already tied the Oklahoma single-season goals record through 12 games, tying OU great Whitney Palmer's mark of 15 set in 2009.Ā

Keefer became the first player in OU history to notch three hat tricks, achieving the rare feat of posting three in the same season. She started the year with a program record four goals against Northwestern State and added hat tricks against Colorado College and against LSU.Ā

The Sooners rank first in the SEC in goals and second in the country in that category with a program-record 41 goals, breaking the previous mark of 38 set in 2024 and 2025.Ā

The list will be narrowed down to 15 semifinalists on December 4 following the conclusion of NCAA Division I All-American voting. Head coaches will vote for three selections from that pool to be named finalists, with the recipient being named January 8, 2027, at the Missouri Athletic Club in downtown St. Louis, Mo.Ā

OU continues SEC play at NR/22 Texas Sunday, Oct. 4 at 2 p.m. on SEC Network.

More on the MAC Hermann Trophy and Midseason Watch List (Per Release)
The Hermann Trophy is presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club and is the nation's highest individual honor, recognizing the National Player of the Year as determined by a vote of Division I head coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches. The award is named in honor of the late Robert Hermann, the St. Louis, Mo., businessman and soccer executive who founded the National Professional Soccer League — the first professional soccer league in the United States, which later became the North American Soccer League. Hermann was inducted into the U.S. Soccer Hall of Fame in 2012.

The 2026 mid-season watch list was compiled by members of the Division I Women's All-America Committee, chaired by Jennifer Rockwood, from a pool of the top-performing players of the first half of the 2026 season. The list was narrowed from 62 players on the preseason watch list to 30. It includes 24 players from the preseason list and six new additions who did not appear on the original list: Jade Bordeleau of NC State, Ava Bramblett of Ohio State, Bella Devey of North Carolina, Kayla Keefer of Oklahoma, Sierra Sythe of Wake Forest and Larkin Thompson of Alabama.
