14 Rowers Recognized as CRCA Scholar-Athletes

NORMAN — Fourteen Oklahoma rowers were honored as 2026 Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Scholar-Athletes, the organization announced Friday.
Payton Alberts (business administration), Isabella Bianchi (English), Leah Brannon Reeves (aviation), Elena Carius (visual communication), Amira Evans (health and exercise science), Aubrey Gleichman (business administration), Brooklyn Holland (elementary education), Tyler Anne Leatherman (journalism), Rebecca Maffei (public relations), Andrea Poleksic (psychology), Alaina Ronning (environmental sustainability), Rachel Schneider (health and exercise science), Lana Tucic (management) and Shreya Vemula (finance) all earned the honor.
Oklahoma's 14 CRCA Scholar-Athlete selections tied for the second-most in the SEC and tied for the 16th-highest total among NCAA Division I programs.
The honor marks a second consecutive CRCA Scholar-Athlete award for Payton Alberts, Leah Brannon Reeves, Aubrey Gleichman, Brooklyn Holland, Tyler Anne Leatherman, Rebecca Maffei, Andrea Poleksic, Alaina Ronning, Rachel Schneider and Shreya Vemula. Bianchi, Carius, Evans and Tucic each collected the distinction for the first time.
To qualify for the award, student-athletes must meet all institutional and conference eligibility requirements, be in their second, third, fourth or fifth year of eligibility and maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher through the end of the fall semester. Athletically, nominees must have rowed in at least 75 percent of their team's spring races in an NCAA-eligible boat or competed in an NCAA boat at their conference championship or national championship.
Across all divisions, the CRCA recognized 1,174 student-athletes with the 2026 Scholar-Athlete Award. This year's honorees averaged a GPA above 3.59, including 76 student-athletes who achieved a perfect 4.0.
