April 03, 2026 | Rowing
NORMAN — Oklahoma freshman Hanna Sättler was named Southeastern Conference Co-Freshman of the Week, the league announced Friday, following her performance in the Sooners' First Varsity Eight (1V8+) at the Ohio State Spring Regatta on March 28 in Columbus, Ohio.
Sättler, a native of Kusterdingen, Germany, helped the Sooners earn a first-place finish in the morning session with a time of 6:00.7, defeating No. 11 Michigan and Notre Dame. Oklahoma's 1V8+ also placed second in the afternoon session with a time of 6:19.6 against No. 21 Ohio State and Notre Dame. Rowing in the five seat, Sättler was part of Oklahoma's top boat that secured a marquee win over a ranked Michigan crew and posted two strong results on the day.
The weekly honor is the first for Oklahoma since joining the SEC ahead of the 2025 season.
Additionally, Sättler's performance helped the Sooners jump three spots in this week's Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) poll, as OU now holds its highest ranking of the season at No. 21.
Up next, Oklahoma travels to Orlando, Fla., for the inaugural Orlando Invite, a multi-team regatta set for April 17-18 on Lake Pickett. The field includes host No. 12 UCF, No. 14 Penn, No. 15 Duke, No. 16 Miami, No. 17 Alabama, Clemson and SMU.
