NORMAN — After claiming its second SEC regular season title and first outright, the No. 1 Oklahoma women's gymnastics team earned the No. 1 seed at the SEC Championships by virtue of boasting the highest National Qualifying Score (NQS).
For 2026, an updated NQS proposal was submitted to the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA). Beginning with week seven, NQS is calculated as an average of meets, dropping the high and low scores. After conference championships, NQS will be calculated by ordering all scores from highest to lowest, confirming at least five away meets and no more than five home meets, dropping the highest and lowest scores and averaging the remaining scores. All away meets will be included in the calculation prior to dropping the highest and lowest scores.
The top five include three fellow SEC members: No. 2 LSU (197.917), No. 3 Florida (197.700) and No. 4 Alabama (197.500). UCLA remains No. 5 with a 197.478 NQS.
LSU, Florida, and Alabama will join the Sooners in the evening session at 7 p.m. CT at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla. The afternoon session will feature No. 5 seed Georgia (197.385), No. 6 seed Arkansas (197.192), No. 7 seed Missouri (197.191), No. 8 seed Auburn (196.547) and No. 9 seed Kentucky (196.503).
The Sooners are ranked in the top five on all four events, coming in at No. 1 on vault (49.563), No. 2 on beam (49.513), and No. 4 on bars (49.428) and floor (49.438).
Six athletes combined for 14 individual rankings, including five spots in the top five.
