LAST TIME OUT

No. 11 Oklahoma (20-6, 8-5 SEC) defeated No. 24 Georgia, 71-67, in Athens on Thursday, notching its fourth ranked win of the season and securing the program's fifth consecutive 20-win season under head coach Jennie Baranczyk. The stretch of 20-win campaigns is the second longest in program history, trailing only an eight-year run from 2005-13.

True freshman Aaliyah Chavez scored 27 points to lead the Sooners. The guard has six 25-point games this season, more than every other SEC freshman combined. Chavez was 9-of-17 shooting made all eight of her free throws, extending her streak of made free throws to 37, tied for the third-longest streak in program history. Chavez has scored in double figures in 20 straight games – the 14th-longest stretch in program history and the second longest ever by an OU freshman (Courtney Paris, 36).  Oklahoma has won five games this season by single digits, including each of its last three games.

SERIES HISTORY

Sunday is the ninth all-time meeting between Oklahoma and Tennessee and the second of the Baranczyk era. The Lady Vols maintain a 6-2 series lead, but the Sooners won last season in Knoxville, 87-86, holding off a fourth-quarter charge from Tennessee in Knoxville. The two programs have only met once in Norman, a 71-55 Tennessee win on Dec. 21, 2004. Oklahoma's first win against the Lady Vols cam in 2009 when the Sooners won 80-70 in a game that saw Courtney Paris' NCAA record double-double streak snapped at 112.

Two of the powerhouses of the sport since the turn of the century, Oklahoma and Tennessee combine for 48 NCAA Tournament appearances (OU 23, UT 25). The Sooners and Lady Vols have won a combined 17 regular-season conference titles (OU 7, UT 10) since 2000.

THE FAST BREAK

• Oklahoma dropped to No. 11 in the AP poll this week but moved up to No. 9 in the USA Today/WBCA Coaches Poll. The Sooners were unveiled as the NCAA Selection Committee's No. 16 team in the country on Feb. 14. A win on Sunday would mark the first time in program history that the Sooners had won three consecutive games against ranked teams in the regular season.

• Head coach Jennie Baranczyk was tabbed as a top-15 finalist for the Naismith National Coach of the Year honor this week, marking her third selection to the list in five seasons at OU. Additionally, Raegan Beers and Aaliyah Chavez each earned late-season watch list spots for the Naismith and Wooden National Player of the Year Awards, as well as spots on their positional top-10 watch lists.

• A win pushes OU's SEC win total to nine which would clinch a winning record in conference play for the sixth consecutive season. The Sooners have won double-digit conference games in every season under Baranczyk. Additionally, the victory would mark OU's 21st ranked win under Baranczyk and fifth this season. OU has played one of the nation's toughest schedules with a strength of schedule ranked 17th nationally. The Sooners have faced 10 ranked opponents, including six that were inside the AP Top 10 at the time of the matchup. OU owns 11 wins over top 100 NET teams and five Quad 1 victories, tied for the 13th most in the NCAA.

• The calling card of Oklahoma basketball is its offense, as the Sooners are averaging 86.7 points per game, a mark that would break the program record set last season at 84.7 per game. OU ranks fourth nationally in scoring and is powered by a starting five that combines for 68.7 points per contest, more than all but one starting unit in the country. The magic number for Oklahoma is 80 points, as the Sooners are 16-1 this season when surpassing that total. OU also ranks among the national leaders in several offensive categories, including first in pace at 78.8, second in second chance points at 17.1, fifth in fast break points at 17.3, fourth in assists at 20.2 and eighth in points in the paint at 43.3.
