NORMAN – Oklahoma women's tennis head coach Audra Cohen and the Sooners welcomed Mika Buchnik to the program for the fall 2025 season today.
Buchnik, a native of Tel Aviv, Israel, has been ranked as high as No. 18 in the ITF junior rankings and owns career-best WTA rankings of No. 843 in singles and No. 1009 in doubles.
"We're thrilled to welcome Mika to our program," Cohen said. "Her work ethic perfectly reflects the standard we uphold here at Oklahoma, and we're excited for her to begin this new journey with us. With Mika's addition, the 2025 class is now complete and it's shaping up to be one of the strongest recruiting classes in Oklahoma history."
Buchnik has recorded 34 combined professional wins and recently achieved a career-best finish as a doubles finalist at the WTT W15 event in Madrid, Spain.
On the junior circuit, she has captured eight titles and competed in three Junior Grand Slam tournaments: Wimbledon, Roland Garros and the Australian Open.
In September 2024, Buchnik made history as the first Israeli – male or female – to win a J500 singles title, claiming the Osaka Mayor's Cup in Japan.
"I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue my journey at OU," Buchnik said. "The family atmosphere and championship mindset here are truly unmatched. I can't wait to give my all both on and off the court. Let's go Sooners!"
The Sooners will return to the court this fall. A schedule will be announced at a later date.
