NORMAN – The No. 6 Oklahoma women's tennis team saw its season come to an end Saturday, falling 4-2 to No. 20 Oklahoma State in the second round of the NCAA Women's Tennis Championship at the Headington Family Tennis Center.

The Sooners finished the season 20-7 overall and placed third in the SEC in their first year in the conference. The NCAA appearance marked the sixth under head coach Audra Cohen.

Oklahoma secured the doubles point to start the match, marking its 16th of the season. The No. 23 duo of Alina Shcherbinina and Julia Garcia Ruiz earned a 6-4 win on court one over No. 9 Anastasiya Komar and Rose Marie Nijkamp, notching their highest-ranked victory of the season. Oklahoma State responded with a 6-4 win at court two from Kylie Collins and Marcela Lopez over Chloé Noël and Salakthip Ounmuang. Ava Catanzarite and Gloriana Nahum clinched the point with a 7-5 win on court three against Gracie Epps and Melisa Ercan.

The Sooners' lone singles win came from Nahum on court six. The freshman capped a perfect 2-0 tounament with a 6-4, 6-2 win over No. 125 Lopez, finishing her first collegiate season with a 15-5 record.

Oklahoma dropped matches on Courts 1, 2, 3 and 5. Shcherbinina fell to Ercan 0-6, 7-5, 6-2 on court one, while Garcia Ruiz lost to Komar 7-6 (4), 4-6, 6-2 on court two. Ounmuang was edged 7-5, 7-6 (4) by Nijkamp on court three, and Catanzarite fell 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 to Epps on court five. No. 65 Emma Staker's match on court four was unfinished, with the Sooner leading 5-3 in the third set.
