TV and Kickoff Information Announced for Four OU Football Games

May 29, 2025 | Football

NORMAN — Television and kickoff information for four 2025 University of Oklahoma football games was announced Thursday by the Southeastern Conference, in conjunction with ESPN.

OU's Aug. 30 season-opening home game against Illinois State will kick off at 5 p.m. CT and be carried by ESPN+ and SEC Network+.

Week 2 will feature a Sept. 6 marquee primetime home game against Michigan that will start at 6:30 p.m. CT and air on ABC.

The Sooners' Sept. 13 road game against Temple at Lincoln Financial Field — home of the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles — will begin at 11 a.m. CT and be televised by ESPN2.

And OU's Oct. 11 Allstate Red River Rivalry contest against Texas at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas will begin at 2:30 p.m. CT and be televised by ABC or ESPN. It will mark the second consecutive 2:30 start for OU-Texas after 12 of the previous 13 matchups kicked off at 11 a.m. CT.

Oklahoma and Illinois State have never met, while the lone previous meeting between OU and Michigan came on Jan. 1, 1976, in the Orange Bowl. The 14-6 Sooners victory over the Wolverines secured the program's fifth overall and second consecutive national championship, punctuating a remarkable start to the Barry Switzer era that saw OU register a 32-1-1 record over the first three years of his tenure. Oklahoma will travel to Michigan in 2026 as part of the two-game home-and-home series that was announced in 2014.

OU owns a 2-1 series lead against Temple and will be playing the Owls for the second straight season. In last year's opener, the Sooners posted a 51-3 home victory behind three receiving touchdowns from wide receiver Deion Burks in his Oklahoma debut. The Sooners also won a 9-6 contest in 1940 in Norman while Temple notched a 14-7 triumph in Philadelphia in 1942.

OU has won 11 of its last 16 meetings against Texas and 17 of its last 26. Since 1971, the Sooners are 30-22-3 against the Longhorns.

TV network information and game windows (i.e., "Early" [11 to noon CT start], "Afternoon" [2:30 to 3:30 p.m. CT start] or "Night" [5 to 7 p.m. CT start]) for the rest of OU's 2025 games will be announced on June 11, with select games tagged as "Flex" games for either the "Afternoon" or "Night" windows.

The SEC Championship Game will take place on Saturday, Dec. 6, with kickoff scheduled for 3 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast by ABC for the second straight year.

OU season ticket holders interested in purchasing single-game tickets can do so now by logging in to their OU account here. Non-season ticket holders interested in tickets should visit https://app.soonersports.com/fb25 or call the Athletics Ticket Office at 405-325-2424 to be added to the waitlist for available season tickets. A single-game pre-sale will be offered to waitlist members when season tickets sell out. Available single-game tickets will go on sale to the public later in June. Michigan game tickets are expected to only be available by purchasing season tickets.
