NORMAN – Oklahoma women's tennis head coach Audra Cohen announced the addition of transfer Barakat Quadre to the 2025-26 roster on Wednesday.
"We are thrilled to be adding Barakat to our program," Cohen said. "She's had a fantastic college career so far, and we are ecstatic to unlock a whole new level in her tennis and life. Her resilience and toughness will impact our program immediately, and we can't wait to start working with her."
Quadre, a native of Lekki, Nigeria, joins the Sooners following a standout three-year career at Florida International. As a junior, she achieved career-high ITA rankings of No. 31 in singles and No. 6 in doubles, posting a 13–4 singles record and a 10–7 mark in doubles while primarily competing at the No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles positions..
A three-time First Team All-CUSA selection in both singles and doubles, Quadre was also named the 2024 CUSA Scholar Athlete of the Year and the Spirit of Service Award winner. She was previously honored as the CUSA Player and Freshman of the Year in 2023, becoming the first freshman in program history to sweep both awards .
Prior to FIU, Quadre was the No. 1-ranked junior in Nigeria and reached as high as No. 92 in the ITF World Junior Rankings. She represented Nigeria in the 2021 Billie Jean King Cup.
"There is only one Oklahoma, and I'm grateful to be joining a program that values both excellence and team culture," Quadre said. "I chose OU because I see a program that matches my hunger to grow, compete, and chase excellence every single day. I'm beyond excited to bring everything I've got to the Sooner family—both on and off the court."
The Sooners will return to the court in the fall, with a schedule announced at a later date.
