OU Earns No. 1 Seed for NCAA Championships

NORMAN — The top-ranked Oklahoma men's gymnastics team will be the No. 1 national seed at the 2025 NCAA Championships, which will be held April 18-19 at Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, Mich. The NCAA Men's Gymnastics Championships selections were released on Tuesday afternoon.
 
The Sooners, who won their 20th MPSF Championship and first since 2021 on Saturday, enter the NCAA Championships as the top seed for the first time since the '21 season. Both April 18 qualifying sessions will be televised on ESPN+ and the finals on April 19 will be televised on ESPN2.
 
OU will face off against No. 4 Nebraska, No. 5 Penn State, No. 8 Air Force, No. 9 California and No. 12 William & Mary in the first qualifying session at noon CT on Friday, April 18 on ESPN+.
 
The second qualifying session, to be held at 5 p.m. CT on April 18 on ESPN+, will consist of host and No. 2 Michigan, No. 3 Stanford, No. 6 Illinois, No. 7 Ohio State, No. 10 Navy and No. 11 Army.
 
The top three teams and the top three all-around competitors not on one of the qualifying teams, plus the top three individuals on each event not already qualified on a team or as an all-around competitor, will advance from each qualifying session to the finals. The NCAA Championship finals, set for 5:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, April 19 on ESPN2 will determine team, all-around and individual event champions.
 
Oklahoma is No. 1 in the national rankings with is 327.700 NQA (National Qualifying Average). Michigan is No. 2 (326.838), Stanford is No. 3 (326.813), Nebraska is No. 4 (324.538), Penn State is No. 5 (322.700), Illinois is No. 6 (321.100), Ohio State is No. 7 (320.663), Air Force is No. 8 (312.863), California is No. 9 (312.800), Navy is No. 10 (312.263), Army is No. 11 (311.519) and William & Mary is No. 12 (309.875).
 
Oklahoma faced four of its five qualifying session opponents during the 2025 regular season and have shared a qualifying session with Penn State in each of the last two NCAA Championships. The Sooners defeated Nebraska twice (327.200 to 320.450 at the Rocky Mountain Open on Jan. 18 and 323.100 to 317.100 on Feb. 28 in Berkeley, Calif.), and Air Force three times this season (318.200 to 299.000 on Jan. 12 in Norman, 327.200 to 311.550 at the Rocky Mountain Open and 329.250 to 313.350 at the MPSF Championship in Colorado Springs on April 5). OU beat Cal twice (323.10 to 308.500 on Feb. 28 and 329.250 to 315.450 in the MPSF Championship) and topped William & Mary 325.250 to 311.550 on March 15 in Williamsburg, Va.
 
Oklahoma has won 12 NCAA men's gymnastics championships, including nine national titles under head coach Mark Williams (since 2000). OU has finished first or second in 19 of the last 23 NCAA team championships held, and has reached 24 consecutive NCAA finals, or the finals of every championship held since 2000. OU has finished among the top 3 in 22 of the last 23 NCAA Championships held, dating back to the 2001 season. OU's most recent national championship was in 2018, the final in a run of four straight national titles. Oklahoma and Penn State are tied for the most men's gymnastics national championships nationally.
