Men's Tennis Falls to Kentucky on the Road

NORMAN -- The No. 22 Oklahoma men's tennis team dropped a road match to Kentucky, 1-4, on Thursday afternoon.
The lone point for the Sooners came in doubles, where the team tallied its 19th advantage of the season. First off the court was freshman Alejandro Melero and sophomore Asahi Harazaki, falling 2-6 on court three. The doubles portion turned around when No. 26 pair Oscar Lacides and Bruno Nhavene topped the No. 18 duo of Jack Loutit and Eli Stephenson, 6-4. Sophomore Kholo Montsi and junior Luis Alvarez sealed the doubles point with a 7-5 win at the two line.
Oklahoma fell behind in singles when four Sooners dropped first sets. Freshman Orel Kimhi fell, 1-6, 1-6, and Kentucky evened the match at 1-all. Kentucky took the lead when Lacides dropped his match, 2-6, 3-6, at the primary spot. The deficit increased when Harazaki came up short, 6-7(6), 2-6, on court six. Kentucky claimed the match when senior Jordan Hasson fell 0-6, 7-6(7), 2-6.
The two Sooners left on court did not complete their matches. Alvarez was leading the third set, 7-6(3), 4-6, 1-0, and Melero was tied in the third set, 7-5, 6-7(2), 1-1.
