Sooners Tied for Fifth after 36 at Betsy Rawls Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas – Oklahoma is tied for fifth with No. 16 TCU after 36 holes at the Betsy Rawls Invitational at the University of Texas Golf Club on Monday. The Sooners have three golfers inside the top 20, with the entire Oklahoma contingent in the top half of the field.
The Sooners (T5, +33) are chasing their fourth consecutive top-five finish this spring, which would be their first time achieving that feat since the 2017-18 season. They trail only teams ranked in the top 40 nationally heading into the final 18 holes tomorrow.
Juniors Savannah Barber (T17, +9) and MaKayla Tyrrell (T17, +9), along with senior Reagan Chaney (T17, +9), are tied for 17th in Austin after the first day of play in the Sooners' 35th appearance at the event.
Barber held steady through two rounds, finishing the first round in 15th after posting the only double-bogey-free round by a Sooner. She shot a second-round 78, dropping just two spots on the leaderboard. Chaney opened with an even-par 72 to tie for third after 18 holes but recorded 10 bogeys and a lone birdie in the second round to fall 14 spots. Tyrrell improved in the second round, carding a 78 and 75 to climb 15 places on the leaderboard at the par-72 track.
Junior Gracie Mayo (T26, +11) was one of five Sooners to card a birdie in the second round, finishing with a 79 after opening with a 76. She sits tied for 26th.
Freshman Audrey Rischer (T32, +12) posted two birdies in the second round, the most for Oklahoma, to secure a tie for 32nd heading into the final round.
Junior Isabelle Schlick (T26, +11), competing unattached from the OU lineup, is tied with Mayo for 26th after 36 holes.
Oklahoma continues play in the Betsy Rawls Invitational tomorrow for the final round, with tee times landing between 8:15 a.m. and 10:25 a.m. CT.
