Sooner Women Finish Third at Texas A&M Invitational

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The University of Oklahoma women's cross country team wrapped up the Texas A&M Invitational Friday morning at the Watts Cross Country Course in College Station, Texas.
 
The OU women placed third with 71 points, bested by South Central regionally-ranked No. 2 Texas A&M and No. 4 SMU. Posting collegiate personal records and top-ten finishes for Oklahoma, senior Gabi Barrera took fifth with a 17:16.2 time and graduate Megan Johnson placed eighth, clocking 17:24.6.
 
Seven more Sooners earned career-best times, including newcomers Sophie Coughlin (17:45.0), who finished 13th, and Peyton McQuillan (17:57.8), who grabbed 20th.

The Sooners will take two weeks off before traveling to Southbend, Ind., for the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational on Friday, Oct. 4.
