NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma men's and women's cross country teams begin the 2024 season on Friday at OSU's Cowboy Preview at the Greiner Family Cross Country Course in Stillwater, Okla.
The OU men will run a 5K at 8:15 a.m. and the women will compete in the 3K at 8:45 a.m. Oklahoma will feature seven runners on the men's side and eight on the women's side.
Four newcomers will race for the OU women, including graduate transfer and 2024 NCAA Division III Track and Field outdoor national champion
Megan Johnson. The Sooners return their top finishers from the 2023 conference and regional championships in senior
Gabi Barrera and junior
Erin O'Brien.
The men's team returns six runners from the 2023 roster to race at the preview and adds Kansas State graduate transfer
Jack Vincent. OU's top performer at the 2023 conference championship, senior
Colin Caso, will lead the 2024 campaign while track and field 10,000-meter school-record holder
Thobias Cheruiyot will compete in his first XC season in the crimson and cream.
The women's team enter the 2024 season ranked No. 8 in the NCAA Midwest Region, per USTFCCCA's preseason regional poll.
