Marcus Bowman joined Oklahoma Athletics in August 2020 and serves as OU’s deputy athletics director for business development and revenue generation.

In this role, Bowman is responsible for driving strategy for business and financial operations, including revenue generation and expenses monitoring. He has executive oversight over business and finance, ticket sales and operations, NIL, Sooner Sports Properties (OU’s multimedia rightsholder), analytics and information technology, and is the department’s liaison to the OU Foundation. Primary sport administrator for the men’s basketball program and the department lead on a proposed $1 billion publicly and privately funded entertainment district, he also works directly on special projects with the vice president and athletics director.

Bowman was hired by OU in 2020 as senior associate AD and chief financial officer for athletics and was promoted to deputy AD for business strategy and chief financial officer in 2021. He oversaw the department’s fiscal and business strategy, which included short- and long-range strategic financial planning, business development, revenue generation and third-party contracts, the development and monitoring of operating and capital budgets, financial reporting and accounting, data and analytics, and the development and management of financial control systems. He also provided administrative supervision for human resources, Headington Hall, information technology, payroll, travel and purchasing, the tennis center, and is the sport administrator for men's basketball. He also managed the department’s transition into the Southeastern Conference, as the Sooners joined the league July 1, 2025.

Prior to OU, Bowman was the senior associate athletics director and chief financial officer at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, for two-and-a-half years. At UNLV, he was responsible for the fiscal affairs of the athletics department and the Thomas & Mack Center/Sam Boyd Stadium. He also served as the sport administrator for the Rebels’ men’s basketball and men’s soccer programs, while supervising human resources and equipment services. He was involved in all facets of strategic and operational planning and collaborated with the director of athletics on a variety of projects. He played an integral role in working with the Las Vegas Raiders and ASM Global on UNLV football’s move to Allegiant Stadium. He also worked very closely with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and MGM Resorts on bringing NCAA and other outside events to the city in future years.

Before UNLV, Bowman served in numerous leadership roles at his alma mater, the University of Pittsburgh, concluding as senior associate athletics director for sport administration where he oversaw 11 sports. He started his career at Pitt in 2006 as director of business operations and several promotions followed. He also held the titles of interim director of ticket operations, assistant athletics director for administration and planning, and senior associate athletics director/chief of staff. Throughout his tenure at Pitt, Bowman played a vital role in several of the department’s successes including assisting in leading the university’s transition into the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Bowman earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Pitt in 2006 with an emphasis in finance and a concentration in communications (graduated cum laude). He earned an MBA degree from Pitt in 2010. Bowman has a passion for continuing education in college athletics and has participated in the following programs/conferences: LEAD1 Institute, NCAA Pathways Program, Collegiate Athletic Leadership Symposium (CALS), McLendon Foundation Summit, and Sports Management Institute (SMI).

Bowman was a student-athlete on Pitt's men's basketball team for four years (2002-06), earning a full academic scholarship to the university. Originally from Columbia, S.C., he and his wife, Dr. Rhea Bowman, have three children: Brooke, Lucas and Bella.
