Josh Poteet joined the University of Oklahoma Athletics Communications Office in January 2020 and was promoted to associate director of athletics communications in 2025. He serves as the primary communications contact for the Sooners' women's basketball program and the men's and women's golf teams.

Poteet oversees the publicity, media relations and digital communications efforts for his assigned sports, including producing game notes and media guides, coordinating media operations, managing content for SoonerSports.com and leading social media strategy.

Since arriving in Norman, Poteet has helped elevate the national profile of Oklahoma women's basketball through strategic storytelling and digital content, contributing to one of the sport's fastest-growing and most-engaged social media brands. He has supported the program through its transition into the Southeastern Conference and has worked with multiple nationally ranked teams, All-Americans and award-winning student-athletes.

Prior to Oklahoma, Poteet served as an athletics public relations assistant at SMU from June 2019 through January 2020. He also worked as assistant director of team communications for the San Antonio Commanders of the Alliance of American Football and as media coordinator for the Valero Alamo Bowl.

A graduate of Oklahoma State University, Poteet earned a bachelor's degree in sports media communications with a minor in statistics.

When he's not working OU events, Poteet enjoys reading, going to the movies and rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals and Oklahoma City Thunder.
