Epps, Ounmuang Reach ITA All-American Semifinals, Qualify for NCAA Championships

CARY, N.C. – Zoie Epps and Salakthip Ounmuang qualified for the NCAA Doubles Championships after reaching the semifinals of the doubles draw at the ITA All-American Championships on Saturday afternoon at Cary Tennis Park.
The No. 40-ranked duo won five consecutive matches, including two in the qualifying draw, to become the third Oklahoma pairing in the last four years to reach the doubles semifinals at the ITA All-American Championships. They join Roisin Gilheany and Gloriana Nahum, who reached the doubles final in 2025, and Dana Guzman and Alina Shcherbinina, who captured the program's first ITA All-American doubles title in 2023.
In the semifinal match, Epps and Ounmuang fell to No. 3 Flora Johnson and Luciana Perry of Ohio State, 6-3, 4-6, 10-5.
On their way to the semifinals, Epps and Ounmuang defeated three ranked pairings, including a straight-set victory over No. 7 Ashton Bowers and Ava Esposito of Auburn. With their quarterfinal win over No. 41 Piper Charney and Reese Miller of Michigan, the Sooners duo secured a spot in the NCAA Individual Championships, set for Nov. 17-22 in Athens, Georgia.
No. 39 Sara Shumate and Gloriana Nahum advanced to the doubles Round of 16 after defeating No. 44 Alessia Cau and Nao Nishino of Ohio State, 6-4, 3-6, 10-4, before falling to No. 42 Kenna Erickson and Zuzanna Kubacha of Baylor, 6-3, 6-1.
In singles play, No. 109 Ounmuang finished her main-draw run in the consolation Round of 32 after advancing through the qualifying draw. She finished the tournament with a 3-2 record in singles.
The Sooners return to action Oct. 15-19 at the ITA Central Regional Championships in Memphis, Tennessee. The singles finalist and doubles champion will earn automatic bids to the NCAA Individual Championships.
