Sooner Tennis Heads to Tulsa for ITA All-American Championships

NORMAN – The Oklahoma men's tennis team begins its campaign at the ITA All-American Championships this weekend in Tulsa, in the tournament's 21st consecutive year at the University of Tulsa's Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
The pre-qualifying round begins Saturday, Sept. 19. Junior Alejandro Melero will represent the Sooners in the pre-qualifying singles draw, facing Florida's Chen Ye at 1:30 p.m.
The qualifying round also gets underway this weekend, with senior Asahi Harazaki and freshman Daniel Uta representing Oklahoma in singles. Harazaki and Melero will play together in the qualifying doubles draw.
Fans can follow the pre-qualifying and qualifying matches via live stream or live scoring.
Main draw matches for the tournament, which runs through Sept. 27, will be held at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

The ITA All-American Championships are one of three qualifying tournaments for the NCAA Individual Championships, set for Nov. 17-22.
Ten singles players will advance to the NCAA Individual Championships: eight main-draw quarter-finalists and two feed-in consolation finalists. Four doubles teams that advance to the semifinals will earn positions in the NCAA Individual Championships.
