Oklahoma Completes Opening Weekend with Sweep of Louisiana

August 29, 2026 | Volleyball

SAN MARCOS – Oklahoma volleyball wrapped up an unbeaten opening weekend Saturday afternoon, earning its second straight sweep with a 3-0 victory over Louisiana (25-14, 25-19, 27-25) at Strahan Arena.

The Sooners improved to 2-0 on the season after hitting .307 for the match and finishing with 42 kills, 39 assists, 36 digs and eight service aces. Oklahoma held Louisiana (0-1) to a .188 hitting percentage and 29 kills.

Alaleh Tolliver paced the Oklahoma offense with a match-high 14 kills while hitting .333 and adding seven digs. Alyssa Flack joined her in double figures with 11 kills on a .304 clip to go along with three blocks. Tekoa Barnes contributed seven kills, a team-high eight digs and five service aces.

Avaya Maga handed out 32 assists while adding six digs and two blocks. Elise Hani finished with seven kills and a team-best four blocks, while Kinsley Singleton added seven digs and three aces.

SET ONE
After Louisiana took an early 4-3 edge, Oklahoma answered with three straight points and never trailed again. The Sooners gradually created separation, extending a 10-7 advantage to 17-10 behind kills from Barnes, Tolliver, and Hani. OU closed the set by scoring eight of the final 11 points, with Singleton serving an ace on set point for the 25-14 win.

SET TWO
The Sooners established control early in the second, using a 6-1 run to turn a 2-2 tie into an 8-3 lead. Louisiana later pulled within one at 13-12 but Barnes responded at the service line with three consecutive aces as OU pushed its advantage to 17-12. The Sooners maintained at least a three-point cushion the rest of the way.

SET THREE
Louisiana provided its strongest challenge of the afternoon in the third, building a 10-5 advantage before Oklahoma began chipping away. The Sooners erased the deficit and pulled even at 15-15 before the teams traded points throughout the remainder of the frame.

OU eventually moved in front 24-22 on back-to-back kills from Tolliver, but Louisiana answered with two straight points to force extra points. After the teams traded kills to make it 25-25, Flack put the Sooners back in front and a Louisiana attack error on the ensuing rally completed the 27-25 comeback and the sweep.

Oklahoma returns to Norman for its home opener against Ohio State on Thursday, Sept. 3.
