Sooners Sweep Texas State in Season Opener

SAN MARCOS – The Oklahoma volleyball team opened the 2026 season in dominant fashion Friday night, sweeping Texas State 3-0 (25-19, 25-12, 25-12) inside Strahan Arena.
The Sooners (1-0) turned in an efficient offensive performance, hitting .406 with 40 kills on 69 attempts while holding the Bobcats (0-1) to a .055 clip. OU also held an 8-2 advantage in service aces and finished with 30 digs.
Alyssa Flack and Tekoa Barnes led the Oklahoma attack with 10 kills apiece. Flack hit .389 and added two blocks, while Barnes hit .350 with an ace and a block.
Elise Hani was nearly flawless offensively, recording eight kills on 11 swings with just one error for a team-best .636 hitting percentage. Alaleh Tolliver added seven kills on a .455 clip and led all players with four service aces.
Avaya Maga directed the offense with 28 assists while adding six digs and two aces. Kinsley Singleton paced the Sooners defensively with a match-high 11 digs.
SET ONE
Oklahoma jumped out to a 4-0 advantage in the opening set before Texas State battled back, eventually taking its first lead at 10-9. The teams traded points through a 14-14 tie before a Barnes kill put the Sooners back in front for good. OU closed the frame on an 11-5 run, with Flack delivering the final kill for a 25-19 victory.
SET TWO
The Sooner offense caught fire in the second, committing no attacking errors and hitting .684 with 13 kills on 19 swings. After Texas State evened the set at 6-6, Oklahoma used a 7-1 stretch to create separation and take a 13-7 advantage. OU later scored seven of eight points to push its lead to 20-10 before cruising to a 25-12 win. Maga closed out the frame with Oklahoma's fifth ace of the set.
SET THREE
Oklahoma carried the momentum into the third and quickly put the match out of reach. Leading 4-3, the Sooners rattled off 10 consecutive points behind Tolliver's serve to build a 14-3 advantage. The run featured four kills from Flack and a pair of aces from Tolliver. Texas State never pulled closer than nine the rest of the way as OU completed the sweep with another 25-12 victory.

The Sooners conclude opening weekend Saturday with a neutral-site matchup against Louisiana at 2 p.m.
