Fall Camp Hurry-Up: Volume 3

NORMAN – The Oklahoma football team enters its final week of preseason camp in preparation for the 2026 season. The third edition of SoonerSports.com's annual Q&A series, "The Hurry-Up," features senior defensive end Adepoju Adebawore, fifth-year long snapper Ben Anderson and junior quarterback Whitt Newbauer.

Q: Describe the team in one word.

A: Grit.

Q: What do you like to do outside of football?

A: I just like to chill with my roommates.

Q: What's your favorite part about playing defensive line?

A: I can kind of control the plays I make. If I want to get in that backfield, that's on me.

Q: What is your biggest goal this season?

A: We have a lot of pieces to our team. We have a really good offense, a really good defense, and really good special teams. I think if we put it all together, we have what we need to win a national championship. That's my goal. I'm trying to win a national championship because we have the team to get that done.

Q: Describe this team in one word.

A: Together. I think we are a very close team. Everyone's friends. We hold each other to a standard here and we keep everyone at that standard and go above it. If someone's not doing their part, we'll call them out in an uplifting way and we keep each other focused on the main goal, which is a national championship. I'd say together for sure.

Q: If there was a movie made about you, who would play you?

A: Channing Tatum.

Q: What do you like to do outside of football?

A: Hang out with my friends, fish, hunt and just be with family. I like just hanging out with the guys.

Q: What's your favorite thing about being a long snapper?

A: I'd probably say that the ball is in my control and I determine where the ball goes. I like being an alpha out there and commanding the punt team or field goal team. The play starts with me, so I have to be on my game for the rest of the operation to be successful.

Q: What's your biggest goal for this season?

A: The biggest goal obviously is to win a national championship, get number eight here and that'd be awesome. No better way to go out than on top in your last year.

QB Whitt Newbauer

Q: If you had one word to describe this team, what would it be?

A: Brotherhood.

Q: What do you like to do outside of football?

A: I'm a big golfer. I love to hit the links on the weekend.

Q: What's your favorite part about playing quarterback?

A: I have control of the game. Being able to throw dots, it's the same as golf. Like, if you throw a good ball, you just want to keep throwing it. If you want to hit a good 7 iron, you just have to keep hitting it.

Q: What's your goal for the season?

A: Be there for the team if they need me. If my time is called, I'll be there and I'll be ready.
