June 18, 2026 | Athletics

NORMAN — University of Oklahoma student-athletes shattered the program record this past spring for highest single-semester cumulative GPA, registering a 3.33 figure to break the previous standard of 3.31 set in spring 2025.

Each of OU's 19 athletics teams earned a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.00 for the fourth consecutive semester. The 3.33 all-sport cumulative GPA represented the 29th straight semester OU student-athletes maintained a mark above a 3.00.

OU's streak of student-athletes posting at least a 3.00 GPA began in spring 2012. The 3.33 cumulative spring GPA reflects the overall academic performance of those student-athletes from their first semester of collegiate enrollment through the completion of the spring 2026 term.

Women's gymnastics led all teams with its 3.72 cumulative GPA through the spring, setting a semester record for its program. Rowing (3.62; tied program record) ranked second, women's golf (3.59) third, soccer (3.56) fourth and softball (3.53; program record) fifth. Women's track and field also tied its sport record with a 3.44 cumulative GPA. Among men's teams, cross country led the way with a 3.36 GPA and was followed by gymnastics (3.35; tied program record), golf (3.33), baseball (3.32) and track and field (3.22).

"A cumulative 3.33 GPA is absolutely amazing and highlights the dedication to excellence our student-athletes exude on a daily basis," said OU Vice President and Director of Athletics Roger Denny. "Yes, they're all chasing championships and want to be the best in their sport, but their recognition of the importance of excelling academically and setting themselves up to flourish after college is extremely impressive. I applaud them for their incredible performance and thank our academic staff for helping chart a meaningful and successful path for them."

Following are some additional spring semester academic accomplishments of OU student-athletes:

• Of OU's 512 student-athletes, 397 (78%) earned a 3.00 or higher spring 2026 semester GPA.

• A total of 114 student-athletes (22%) registered a perfect 4.0 GPA during the spring 2026 semester.

• OU student-athletes have collectively earned a cumulative GPA of 3.10 or higher in 16 of the last 17 semesters and a 3.20 or higher each of the last nine semesters.
