April 27, 2026 | Women's Tennis

NORMAN – The Oklahoma women's tennis team earned the No. 6 seed in the 2026 NCAA Championship and will host first and second round matches at the Headington Family Tennis Center, the NCAA announced Monday.

OU will open tournament play against Kansas on Saturday, May 2. The other first-round matchup features Wichita State and SMU, with the winners meeting in the second round on Sunday, May 3. The winner of that match advances to the Super Regionals the following weekend.

The Sooners secured the No. 6 seed for the second consecutive season, tied for the second-highest in program history. Oklahoma is making its 17th NCAA Tournament appearance and seventh under head coach Audra Cohen. It also marks the sixth time OU has hosted first- and second-round matches and extends a program-record streak of six consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. Oklahoma has advanced to at least the second round in each of the past four seasons.

Tickets are now on sale for the two-day regional. Daily general admission is $5. University of Oklahoma students are admitted free with a valid student ID. Tickets can be purchased by calling the OU Athletics Ticket Office at 800-456-GoOU or visiting SoonerSports.com.

In its second season competing in the SEC, Oklahoma posted a 23-5 overall record and finished 13-2 in conference play to clinch a share of the regular-season SEC title. The Sooners closed the regular season on an NCAA-best 13-match winning streak.

The 64-team NCAA field includes 31 automatic qualifiers and 33 at-large bids. As one of the tournament's top eight seeds, Oklahoma is also in line to host a Super Regional match. The final eight teams will compete for the national title May 15-17 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga.
