LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Five current, future and former Oklahoma men's gymnasts competed at USA Gymnastics Winter Cup on Saturday night at the Kentucky International Convention Center.
Current Sooners Fuzzy Benas, Sasha Bogonosiuk and Nathan Roman, alumnus Yul Moldauer and 2026 OU signee Hunter Simpson participated in the annual competition for USA Gymnastics national team selection.
Bogonosiuk won the silver medal on vault with an average score of 13.575.
Bogonosiuk placed 13th in the all-around with a total score of 75.700, while Benas finished 16th with a 74.250. Bogonosiuk placed eighth on parallel bars (13.700), and Benas placed 10th on floor exercise (13.450) and tied for 11th on parallel bars (13.250). Roman earned a sixth-place finish on parallel bars with a score of 14.055.
OU alumnus Yul Moldauer earned the silver medal in the all-around with a score of 79.710 and secured a spot on the U.S. men's senior national team in his first USA Gymnastics competition since 2024. He claimed the parallel bars title (14.955), finished second on still rings (14.055), placed sixth on pommel horse (13.250) and finished 11th on horizontal bar (12.900).
Simpson also competed in the all-around, finishing 21st with a score of 72.700. He placed 17th on pommel horse (12.400) and 18th on still rings (12.550).
Oklahoma returns to NCAA competition on Saturday, Feb. 28, against Nebraska at McCasland Field House. The meet is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. CT, with introductions at 5:45 p.m. The theme is Educator Appreciation and Greek Organizations Night, honoring educators and welcoming Greek organizations from OU. Promotions include a free OU hat giveaway and $2 beer, soda and popcorn.
