OU Tied for Nation High in Honorees, Agbayani Takes Home Second Gold Glove in Program History

OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma Softball earned a tie for the nation's lead with four National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American honorees as announced by the organization Wednesday, May 28.

Sophomores Ella Parker and Kasidi Pickering were named NFCA First Team All-Americans, while Sam Landry earned a spot on the second team and Gabbie Garcia was a third team honoree.

Junior second baseman Ailana Agbayani was named the Rawlings Gold Glove recipient as the only at her position to take home the award. Shortstop Grace Lyons was the first Sooner to earn the distinction, doing so in 2023 in just the second year of the award's existence.

Oklahoma has 89 NFCA All-Americans all-time, 88 of which have come during head coach Patty Gasso's tenure. OU has had at least two first team honorees every year since 2017 and at least four on the NFCA All-American team for the past seven years.

Parker is an All-American for the second time in her career after making the third team last season. The sophomore was tabbed at the designated player/non-pitching slot after leading the team in hitting at .416. The lefty bat has registered 13 home runs, 49 RBI, 67 hits, 36 walks and 19 doubles. She started the season with back-to-back Southeastern Conference (SEC) Player of the Week honors and wrapped up play prior to the NCAA Tournament with SEC All-Tournament laurels.

Pickering is coming off a huge NCAA Regional and Super Regional, as well a First Team All-SEC caliber season. The sophomore is second on the team with 18 home runs while also driving in 56 runs and scoring 58. Pickering transitioned into the leadoff role during April and has logged a team-best 51 walks while slashing .413/.557/.865. The outfielder has driven in 11 runs and homered four times in five NCAA Tournament games this season.

Landry has stacked up the awards in her senior season, adding to SEC Newcomer of the Year, SEC First Team and SEC All-Defensive Team laurels. The righty pitcher was named SEC Pitcher of the Week three times this year, with her first coming after firing a perfect game at No. 23 Baylor. Landry was also selected first overall in the inaugural Athletes Unlimited Softball League draft. The Mont Belvieu, Texas, native is 23-4 with a 1.92 ERA, 170 strikeouts, 16 complete games, four saves and a .198 opponents' batting average in 167.2 innings worked.

Garcia has performed with the bat and the glove this season, holding down shortstop and the middle of the order. The freshman was a Second Team All-SEC honoree and SEC All-Defensive Team pick. She was named SEC Player of the Week March 18 and D1Softball Freshman of the Week and SEC Freshman of the Week March 11. After going 8-for-10 over a week in early April, Garcia earned her second SEC Freshman of the Week honor. The Chandler, Ariz., native became the first freshman since Jocelyn Alo to homer in five consecutive games and is currently leading the team with 20. With 57 games played and 55 starts Garcia has produced 20 home runs, 58 RBIs, nine doubles, 48 runs and a .360 batting average. In the field she's made only three errors in over 160 chances at shortstop.

Agbayani's gold glove caliber season stands out in her numbers and how she's handled her position at second base. The junior has 100 assists, 69 putouts and only one error, which was committed April 25. Agbayani earned a spot on the SEC All-Defensive Team and was also named SEC Player of the Week April 29. With the bat she has hit .336 with 36 runs, eight doubles, four home runs and 35 RBIs.

No. 2 Oklahoma takes on No. 7 Tennessee Thursday, May 29 at 1:30 p.m. on ESPN in the Sooners' opening game at the 2025 Women's College World Series.
