April 09, 2025 | Wrestling

NORMAN – Oklahoma wrestling's John Wiley has been selected to represent the United States at the 2025 U23 Pan-American Championships, set to take place April 10-12 in Querétaro, Mexico.

The U23 Pan American Championships will serve as the qualifying event for the 2025 Junior Pan American Games in Asunción, Paraguay, in August for the Olympic weights in all three styles. The top eight finishers will qualify their country at the weight for the Junior Pan American Games, which will be a U23 age-group tournament

Wiley earned his spot on Team USA following his performance at the 2024 U23 World Championships in Tirana, Albania, where the redshirt junior finished 1-1 in the freestyle event at 70kg.

The Mustang, Oklahoma, native will again compete in freestyle at 70kg, joining a talented Team USA lineup that includes seven 2025 NCAA All-Americans.

Wiley is also a two-time 16U Nationals champion, claiming titles in both freestyle and Greco-Roman in 2019.

The tournament will kick off with Greco-Roman wrestling on Thursday, followed by women's freestyle on Friday, and men's freestyle will conclude the event on Saturday.

Results, brackets and mat assignments for the U23 Pan American Championships will be available on UWW Arena, while FloWrestling will provide subscription-based streaming.
