NORMAN – After a career night in the regular season finale at Georgia, freshman
Addison Fatta was named the SEC Co-Freshman of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Fatta, who shared the award with LSU's Kailin Chio, was honored by the SEC for the first time this season. Seven different athletes have claimed a league-best 12 weekly honors this season for Oklahoma. With Fatta claiming freshman of the week honors, the Sooners are the only program to have two athletes earn the honor this season as
Lily Pederson picked up a pair of accolades in January.
The Wrightsville, Pa., native earned a 39.650 in the all-around during Friday's meet against Georgia to shatter her previous career high of 39.525. Fatta is one of just two freshman this season to earn a 39.600 or higher in the all-around.
En route to her all-around career high she also set or tied three other career bests. On vault and floor, she set new career highs with a 9.9 and 9.95, respectively, while tying her career high on beam with a 9.925. All four of her scores contributed to the team total as she helped the Sooners to season-best scores on vault (49.625) and beam (49.675).
The Sooners will head to their first SEC Championship on Saturday, March 22. As the No. 1 seed, OU will compete in the night session against No. 2 LSU, No. 3 Florida and No. 7 Missouri at 7 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
