NORMAN – After claiming its first SEC regular season title and posting a season-high 198.475 in its last meet, the No. 1 Oklahoma women's gymnastics team earned the No. 1 seed at the SEC Championships by virtue of boasting the highest National Qualifying Score (NQS).
The Sooners NQS of 198.040 leads the nation and OU is one of two schools (LSU) with an NQS over 198. NQS is based on a team's six best regular season scores, three of which must be away. The overall high score is eliminated, and the five remaining scores are averaged. NQS scores are used to determine seeding for NCAA regional competition.
