NORMAN – Oklahoma volleyball's
Alexis Shelton was named a third team All-American the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced Wednesday.
Shelton is now a two-time All-American and the fourth Sooner to earn multiple All-America honors after receiving a third team nod in 2024. Shelton is the first OU player since Marion Hazelwood (2014-16) to earn back-to-back All-America honors and the third to be named to multiple first, second or third teams, joining Brianne Barker (2010-11) and Sallie McLaurin (2011-13).
Shelton is one of just six athletes to earn first, second or third team recognition in program history as all other selections have been honorable mention nods.
This is the third recognition of the season for Shelton was named to the All-SEC First Team and the All-Central Region team.
As a senior, Shelton finished with 24 double-digit kill matches and eight 20-kill performances. She led the team with 439 kills on the season to become the fourth player in program history with three seasons of 400-plus kills. She left her mark all over the stat sheet in 2025, tallying 12 service aces, 163 digs and 78 blocks.
Shelton picked up her second career all-region honor as she finished her season with 24 double-digit kill matches and eight 20-kill performances. The Charlotte, N.C., native led Oklahoma with 439 kills on the season and eclipsed the 1,500 kill mark to finish sixth all-time in program history. Shelton left her mark all over the stat sheet in 2025, tallying 12 service aces, 163 digs and 78 blocks.
For her career, Shelton finished sixth all-time with 1,557 kills and is only the sixth player in OU history to eclipse the 1,500 kill mark. In the 25-point rally scoring era, she ranks first in kills, surpassing Sallie McLaurin's 1,351. Her three seasons of 400-plus kills in the rally-scoring era are the most by any athlete.
In November, Shelton was drafted fourth overall by the Grand Rapids Rise of Major League Volleyball.
