NORMAN – Forty-six University of Oklahoma student-athletes have been named to the 2023-24 Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team, the conference announced Wednesday.

The team, comprised of 758 Big 12 student-athletes, honors conference competitors who were new, incoming freshmen at their respective institutions during the 2023-24 academic year.

Six of the 86 student-athletes nominated with a 4.00 grade point average are from OU. The Sooners with perfect GPAs are Jackson Arnold (football), Grace Hanson (women's track and field/cross country), Cameron Jackson (men's track and field), Elizabeth Pfeil (rowing), Shreya Vemula (rowing) and Keira Wells (women's gymnastics).

Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services, student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team must be new, first-time/incoming freshmen who have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial coursework and achieved a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00.

The Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team was introduced in the 2012-13 academic year.
