OU Athletics and 1Oklahoma Announce $2M Matching Challenge Achieved; Donor Pledges Additional $1M

NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma Athletics Department, in conjunction with its exclusive name, image and likeness (NIL) partner 1Oklahoma, announced Wednesday that the $2 million matching gift challenge extended by an anonymous donor in August has been achieved. The matching gift challenge, which was announced just weeks after the Sooners joined the Southeastern Conference, was to go through the end of the 2024 calendar year.
In celebration of this milestone being achieved early, the anonymous donor has extended an additional $1 million matching gift challenge. Every contribution made to 1Oklahoma will be met dollar for dollar up to $1 million if the stretch goal is attained by Dec. 31, 2024.
Contributions made to 1Oklahoma at the Championship Winners level ($44 per month) from now through June 30, 2025, will continue to receive credit and earn Sooner Club benefits for the 2025 membership year. Extending this benefit empowers OU Athletics to further enhance the student-athlete experience, streamline engagement with supporters and focus fundraising efforts on the highest priorities.
"College sports are at a pivotal point, and together we can embrace the changes to help ensure OU continues to be a leader," said 1Oklahoma CEO Jeff Weber. "Your support for 1Oklahoma allows us to do just that, building a sustainable foundation for success. We are thrilled to have met the challenge and are even more excited to keep the momentum going with the additional $1 million match."
Established in June 2024, 1Oklahoma is the University of Oklahoma's official NIL initiative. 1Oklahoma's mission is to redefine the NIL landscape through collaboration and innovation to create enduring value for the OU fanbase and student-athletes.
