FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Oklahoma men's track and field team added three more NCAA Outdoor Championships qualifiers Friday at the NCAA West Preliminary Round, bringing the program's total to eight qualifiers heading into the final day of competition.
Seniors Ralford Mullings and BJ Green each captured regional titles Friday to punch their tickets to Eugene as both Sooners prepare to defend their NCAA outdoor titles. Mullings opened the day by winning the men's discus with a throw of 64.51m (211'7.00"), while Green followed with a winning mark of 16.74m (54'11.25") in the men's triple jump to secure his fourth career trip to the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
In the men's high jump, Kyren Washington secured his third career appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships after clearing a season-best 2.17m (7'1.50") to finish 12th.
Two senior triple jumpers concluded their Oklahoma careers Friday evening. Floyd Whitaker narrowly missed qualification after finishing 15th with a mark of 15.85m (52'0.00"), while Awakhiwe Ndlovu placed 33rd with a jump of 15.11m (49'7.00").
On the track, Evans Biwott finished 19th in the men's 5,000 meters with a time of 13:58.46, while Ronald Ngetich placed 22nd in 13:59.76.
Oklahoma's women close out regional competition Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. CT with the women's discus. With eight current NCAA Outdoor Championships qualifiers, the Sooners will look to add to that total behind competitors including 2026 NCAA Indoor Second Team All-American high jumper Hannah Pfiffner and SEC Outdoor triple jump silver medalist Riley Ammenhauser.
