March 25, 2026 | Women's Gymnastics

NORMAN — Freshman Mackenzie Estep was named the 2026 SEC Co-Freshman of the year, head coach KJ Kindler was named the SEC Coach of the year and a total of eight Sooners earned All-SEC accolades, the conference announced Wednesday.

Senior Faith Torrez, junior Keira Wells, sophomores Elizabeth Blessey, Addison Fatta and Elle Mueller, and freshmen Mackenzie Estep, Ella Murphy and Kamila Pawlak were named to the All-SEC Team, while Estep and Ella Murphy were named to the SEC All-Freshman Team.

All-SEC teams were determined by the top four scores on each event from each session, including ties, during SEC Championships last weekend. The All-Freshman team is comprised of athletes with the top score on each event and the top two scores in the all-around from each session. Selections of major award winners were made by the league's head coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their own players.

Estep was the only freshman to win an SEC individual championship in 2026 with her 9.95 on floor, and was the first OU freshman to earn an individual conference title since Faith Torrez in 2023. She is the Sooners' first freshman and second athlete to win a major conference award in OU's two seasons in the SEC.

A league-high four-time Freshman of the Week honoree in 2026, Estep has competed in at least three events every meet and has appeared in the all-around in five competitions. The freshman boasts a 98% hit rate and has earned 27 scores of 9.90 or better, the most among any freshman in the SEC. She owns 11 event titles, including four on vault, three on floor, two on bars and one in the all-around.

Estep is ranked No. 4 in the nation on vault, boasting a perfect 10.0 and notching 10 scores of 9.90 or above. She is just one of two freshmen to earn a perfect 10.0 on the event this season. She boasts a career high of 9.95 on both bars and floor and holds 16 scores of 9.90 or better between the two events.

Estep also earned All-SEC honors with a nod on vault (9.85) and floor (9.95), and All-Freshman honors on bars (9.90) and floor.

Head coach KJ Kindler earned SEC Coach of the Year following a perfect 8-0 conference record during the 2026 regular season. OU won its second SEC regular season title and first outright championship. Kindler has now amassed 17 Conference Coach of the Year honors, also earning 16 while in the Big 12. She has led OU to 16 of the program's 22 overall conference championships.

Wells received recognition on vault with her 9.85 at SEC Championships, beam (9.925) and floor (9.950), while  Murphy received All-SEC honors on bars (9.95), beam (9.925) and floor (9.90) as well as All-Freshman honors on bars and beam. Torrez earned honors on bars (9.95) and beam (10.0), while Mueller received recognition on beam (9.90).  Blessey and  Fatta were recognized on vault (9.90), and Pawlak earned honors on floor (9.875).

The Sooners will travel to Lexington, Ky., April 3-5 for the NCAA Lexington Regional. The No. 1 overall seed, OU will face Kentucky, Ohio State and the winner of Central Michigan/Rutgers in the second round on Friday, April 3 at 6 p.m. CT. The top two teams from each second-round session will advance to the regional finals, which will be held at 3 p.m. CT on Sunday, April 5.
