MANHATTAN, Kan. - No. 7 Oklahoma lost a two-run lead in the fifth inning on Sunday and eventually dropped a 6-2 decision in the third and decisive game of the conference series with Kansas State.

A five-run fifth inning propelled the Wildcats to their first series win over the Sooners since 2001, the only other time they have come out on top of a best-of-three series in Big 12 play against OU. That three-game set was also played in Manhattan.

"We didn't put the innings together (offensively), they put the big inning together," said OU Head Coach Sunny Golloway.

Despite out hitting KSU, 6-5, Oklahoma was unable to hold on to a 2-0 lead past the fourth inning. Sunday's loss drops OU's overall record to 24-8 and 6-5 in Big 12 play while KSU improves to 18-12 and 4-8.

OU struck first for the second straight game on Casey Johnson's third home run of the season, a solo shot to right-center field in the second inning. Johnson also homered on Saturday and collected three base hits with four RBIs on the afternoon. He has four career homers against the Wildcats.

In the third, Evan Mistich pushed the Sooner lead to 2-0 on a sacrifice fly to plate Garrett Buechele, who singled to lead off the frame.

OU starter Dillon Overton was impressive in the first four innings with one hit allowed and five strikeouts, but things unraveled in the fifth with five runs allowed off four walks, one error and two hits. The error, committed by Overton on a sac bunt by Chase Graskewicz, allowed the first of five runs to reach third base safely. That critical play was followed by two more walks by Overton before he was relieved and Jared King drove a two-run single up the middle off Tyson Seng.

"We didn't field our position on the mound," said Golloway. "We walked four guys that inning, even with guys out of the bullpen. When you walk four guys and you give up two bunts, that really should be outs, you are going to give up some runs. The five-run inning was our demise."

Overton suffered the loss and dropped to 5-2 despite having just one bad inning. KSU reliever Evan Marshall jumped to 3-3 with 3 2/3 innings out of the bullpen with just one hit allowed and three strikeouts.

The Sooners return home for the first of two games against No. 11 TCU. Both teams both advanced to the 2010 College World Series. OU and TCU play April 12 at 6:30 p.m. in Norman and on April 26 in Fort Worth.
