NORMAN — Oklahoma freshman running back Tory Blaylock has been named SEC Freshman of the Week after rushing for 100 yards and two touchdowns in OU's 42-3 win at Temple on Saturday in Philadelphia, the conference office announced Monday.
Blaylock averaged 7.1 yards on his 14 rushing attempts and scored touchdowns from 6 and 18 yards in the second quarter to help the Sooners build a 25-0 lead. It was the Humble, Texas, product's first career 100-yard rushing game.
Blaylock's 14 carries were the most by an OU running back this season, and he notched rushes of 25, 18, 11 and 10 yards in the game. The 25-yard burst in the third quarter marked the longest rushing play by an OU running back this season and set up a 51-yard TD rush by quarterback John Mateer on the following play.
In three games, Blaylock has totaled a team-high 166 yards on 31 carries and has scored three touchdowns.
This is Blaylock's first career SEC weekly award and OU's second of the season. Mateer was named SEC Offensive Player of the Week last week.
